FCPS is pleased to announce the continuation of our exchange program with Lycee D'arsonval in Brive la Gaillarde, France. While in France, students also visit Paris. The application includes three components, the student application, parent statement of support, and teacher recommendation forms. Students must secure teacher recommendations from three of his/her teachers.
This exchange began during the summer of 2014 when FCPS students and teachers visited Brive la Gaillarde. Similar to our other exchanges, FCPS students stayed with host families and visited Paris and the sites near Brive. In April 2015, FCPS hosted 20 French students and 2 teachers in Fauquier County Public Schools.
Fauquier County Public Schools will continue the Spanish Exchange program in 2016-2017 with El Colegio La Salle Palencia in Palencia, Spain. In September 2016, FCPS hosted 11 Spanish students and 2 chaperones in our three high schools. FCPS is currently working on our next date to send students and teachers to live with host families in Spain, attend school in Palencia, and visit Madrid.
FCPS is pleased to continue our exchange program with Rotteck Gymnasium in Freiburg, Germany. Our German exchange students visited FCPS on October 12 - 27, 2016. Now it's time for us to travel to Germany! Our trip is scheduled to take place from June 15th through July 3rd. While in Germany, we are planning to visit Munich, Austria, and France. Fauquier County students will return to Builth Wells, Wales, UK. in 2017. We will go there from June 20 through July 7, 2017. While in Wales, our students will attend classes so that they can get firsthand experience with the British educational system. Our stay will be approximately two weeks. Sights may include a trip to London, Windsor Castle, Cardiff, Swansea, Carphilly, Brecon, several castles and Big Pit coal mine and the town of Builth Wells itself. Fauquier students will be responsible for paying a pro-rated portion of the chaperone's airfare.
You may google these spots to see for yourself all that there is to be seen. I will be suggesting links for those students interested in the program. This reciprocal exchange has run succesfully since the mid 1990's. It is a wonderful opportunity for Fauquier County high school students to see how others live.
