ENROLLMENT   

What to Bring  

Original Birth Certificate - (A photocopy of the child's birth certificate will not meet this requirement.)
Proof of Residency - Two forms of proof of residency (preferred--housing contract, rental agreement, property tax bill or utility bill - (A cell phone bill or driver's license will not meet this requirement.)
Immunization Record - your child can register for kindergarten without the immunization record, but it is mandatory that it be on file before the first day of school.

 Secondary Proof of Residency

  •  Voter’s registration (current)
  • United States Postal Service change of address confirmation form
  • Postmarked U.S. mail with forwarding address label showing resident’s name and new address
  • Payroll check stub (current-showing residence address)
  • W-2 or 1099 (current-showing residence address)
  • Homeowner’s or renter’s insurance bill (not policy) showing resident’s name and residence address
  • Bank statement (current) showing resident’s name and residence address
  • Tax returns (redacted) showing evidence of receipt by IRS
  • Social security documents (Annual statement, Medicaid, food stamps)
  • Probation/court documents showing resident’s name and residence address

 Entrance Requirements

Age Requirements
To enter kindergarten, your child must be 5 years old on or before September 30th of the current school year and reside in Fauquier County with a parent or legal guardian.

Physical Examination
 
A comprehensive physical examination performed within the twelve months prior to the date the child first enters a public kindergarten or elementary school (K-5) is required prior to official enrollment in August.
Virginia School Health Entrance Form will be available at registration.


Evidence of Required Immunization
Virginia law requires every student to be immunized against certain diseases (see
Code of Virginia  §22.1-271.2). Students who lack the required proof of immunization will be barred from attending school. Objections based on religious grounds may be discussed with the school principal.

  • 3 DPT or DTap - at least one dose of DTap or DTP after 4th birthday unless received 6 doses before 4th birthday.
  • 3 Polio - at least one dose after 4th birthday unless received 4 doses of all OPV or all IPV prior to 4th birthday.
  • 2 Measles - 1st dose on/after 12 months of age; 2nd dose required for entry into kindergarten.
  • 1 Mumps - on/after 12 months of age; 2nd dose required for entry into kindergarten. 
  • 1 Rubella - on/after 12 months of age. Note: Measles, Mumps, Rubella requirements also met by 2 MMR- 1st dose on/after 12 months of age; 2nd dose required for entry into kindergarten.
  • Hepatitis B - 3 doses required (2 doses if Merck adult formulation given between 11-15 years of age).
  • 1 Varicella - to susceptible children born on/after January 1, 1997, dose on/after 12 months of age; 2nd dose required for entry into kindergarten.
