P.B. Smith offers a comprehensive program for students to help them understand their feelings and learn strategies to deal with the many challenges faced today.  Students have the opportunity to see the counselor individually or in groups to talk about concerns they may have on a variety of issues.  The school counselor also visits classrooms to talk about character traits such as Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Fairness, Citizenship, and Trustworthiness. These traits are developed through activities that encourage students to practice treating each other with equality, respecting diversity, having good sportsmanship, and so on.

School wide programs like Red Ribbon Week (National Drug Awareness week), Roadrunner Club, and Lunch Buddies also give students the tools to deal with peer pressure, disrespect, self-esteem, confidence, friendship and self-respect.  The counselor is also available for consultation and collaboration with parents and teachers in providing the best possible learning environment for your child to succeed.  Feel free to call or e-mail to set up an appointment to talk with me.
