![]() The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001(NCLB) requires schools to meet adequate yearly progress (AYP) goals each year in reading/language arts and mathematics. Schools that do not make AYP for two or more consecutive years in the same subject area are identified as being in School Improvement.
Year 1 of Title I School Improvement means the school has failed to make AYP in either reading/language arts and/or mathematics for two consecutive years and is required to offer public school choice.
Year 2 of Title I School Improvement means the school has failed to make AYP in either reading/language arts and/or mathematics for three consecutive years and is required to offer public school choice and supplemental educational services.
In 2007, Fauquier County Public Schools was selected to participate in a federal pilot reversal program which allowed us to provide supplemental educational services before public school choice. Miller Elementary School offered tutoring through supplemental educational services (SES) instead of public school choice (PSC) to eligible students, beginning in the 2008-2009 school year. Below, you will find a summary of our participation rates in both SES and PSC: |
