PARENT/VOLUNTEER PROGRAM  (taken from pg 49 of the FCPS Student/Parent Info Handbook)

Schools encourage parents and other community members to become actively involved in the

many facets of the school. Volunteers serve in many areas of school life including the

reinforcement of skills and concepts taught by the professional staff. Each school will identify

the areas of need for volunteer assistance. Volunteer programs are usually coordinated by a

parent in conjunction with the school administration. Parents interested in volunteering should

contact the school office. To ensure the safety of our children, any volunteer working directly

with children must have a background check. This will be facilitated by your child’s school.

INSTRUCTIONS TO VOLUNTEER AT MWES (PTO ACTIVITIES, FIELD TRIP CHAPERONES, VOLUNTEER IN CLASSROOM, ETC)

1) COMPLETE A FCPS VOLUNTEER FORM FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS.

2) NON-PARENTS MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF THEIR DRIVER'S LICENCE.

3) PTO VOLUNTEERS MUST FIRST COMPLETE THE FCPS VOLUNTEER FORM.

4) PLEASE TURN IN FORMS AT LEAST 2 WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF FIELD TRIP OR BEFORE VOLUNTEERING IN ANY OTHER AREA IN THE SCHOOL. ONCE APPROVED YOU WILL BE PLACED ON THE APPROVED VOLUNTEER LIST MAINTAINED IN THE OFFICE.
