We certainly have a lot of events going on here at H. M. Pearson during these last few weeks of school!  On May 7^th we have our Kindergarten play at 7:00 p.m. and SOL Testing for our third, fourth and fifth graders begins, the Fine Arts Festival is planned for May 28^th, Field Day will take place on June 3^rd, and we will celebrate our students' accomplishments at our grade-level awards ceremonies June 4^th - 7^th!

We continue to be so grateful for all of the support from our families and the community.  We are excited to report that Mr. Ben Jones (aka Cooter from Dukes of Hazard) and his wife, Alma, recently donated over $1,200.00 to H. M. Pearson Elementary School!  This gift is greatly appreciated and we will certainly use it wisely in a manner that will benefit all of our students.

We hope that everyone had a chance to see our third nine weeks honor roll in The Fauquier Times-Democrat.  It was sponsored by Overcoming Obstacles Landscaping Company and we want to thank them for their generosity.

We all look forward to seeing each of you over the next few weeks here at school as you share in your children's events.  Make sure you follow the calendar carefully so you won't miss a single event!  Best wishes for a wonderful and relaxing summer!

Next Friday during PE Mrs. Warner and the resource teachers will be leading each grade level in our mini-relay for life. This will be held all day Friday, May 24 during each grade's resource time. Students may donate $1 for the opportunity to dress in all-out summer clothes (hats, sunglasses, flip flops and Hawaiian clothes). Teachers may also pay to wear jeans. Students may bring additional money to purchase snacks and drinks during the relay or they may bring a snack from home. We are looking for a few parent volunteers to help with selling of these concessions-all proceeds will go directly to the American Cancer Society. If you're interested in volunteering, please contact Mrs. Schwier at rschwier@fcps1.org . If you'd choose for your child not to participate in this activity, please notify their homeroom teacher. Our final cancer awareness day is Friday, May 31 when we will observe another hat day to Shade Out Cancer. Students may pay $1 to wear a hat all day.
