As we look over our calendars for the rest of the school year, there is hardly a day left blank from now until June 3rd! Our students have all been working very hard since we returned from Spring Break in their classes as we prepare for these final weeks of school and we are all very proud of each of them.
Our SCO is planning an exciting event for Friday, April 17th that will include all of our students. This will surely be a fun-filled day that we are all looking forward to. Wednesday, April 22nd, is Earth Day. We have many events planned to include the planting of a tree in our courtyard! Rolling Thunder will be passing through on Friday, April 24th. All of our students are making a special card to present to the group when they arrive. Our 5th graders will be traveling to Hemlock Overlook on Monday, April 27th for their annual field trip which everyone is excited about.
May brings the SOL tests that we have all been preparing for since August. We know our boys and girls in grades 3-5 are well prepared and they will represent H. M. Pearson School in high fashion! Please take some time to review subject area material with your children a few days before the tests begin to alleviate their stress. If you would like information about this year's SOL tests, log on to http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Parents - a site offered through the Virginia Department of Education. You can find some great tips regarding the Virginia Standards of Learning program here. Make sure your children get plenty of resting during testing time and have a healthy breakfast each morning.
Our kindergarten class will be entertaining us with their annual play on Tuesday evening, May 5th, at 7:00 p.m. On Thursday evening, May 7th, we will have an author visit our school! We are all thrilled about these two events so be sure to join us.
The last day of school will be Wednesday, June 3rd which is right around the corner! These last weeks of the school year will go by quickly so be sure to enjoy them as you continue to make special memories with your children!
