When students come to see me, they are informed that the counseling session will be kept confidential. The limits to confidentiality include: a clear and imminent danger to the student or others, the necessity to consult with other professionals, and/or legal or authoritative restraints. Certainly, parents will be informed if I have any majors concerns regarding their child. I do feel it is important that students feel they can trust me and feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings which is why confidentiality is so important to our counseling relationship. |
