It is extremely important that your child is in school and on time everyday. We do realize that there are times that this is not possible. Here are some suggestions to help you throughout the school year.
If your child has a medical condition that will cause them to miss school frequently, please let us know and provide us with written documentation from your child's Doctor(s).
If your child has a medical or dental appointment, please send in a Doctor's note with your child and have them turn it in to the Front Office.
If your child will not be at school on any given day please call or email and let us know. You may call as early as you like and leave a message. If you know your child is going to be absent in advance please send in a note to the Front Office.
*We must have a note, phone call, or email from a parent or guardian, we cannot take the word of a student. *
Tardies
Tardies are treated in the same manner as absences, and with the same seriousness by Fauquier County Public Schools.
Students can have no more than ten tardies in a school year. If a student is tardy ten or more times without a Doctor's excuse a conference will be scheduled with the school and the Attendance Case Manager.
What to expect:
Students with five unexcused (no contact with a parent or guardian, or Dr.'s excuse) absences will require a conference.
On the sixth absence/tardy a letter will be mailed home.
After ten absences/tardies without a Doctor's note a letter will be mailed home requesting a conference.
If your child's attendance does not improve after the ten day conference a referral will be mailed to the Attendance Case Manager.
Every student's situation is evaluated on an "Individual Case Basis. "
*Please note: All attendance letters are automatically generated.*
