Building a solid foundation for a lifetime of wellness! |
Did you know that physical activity, especially moderate-to-vigorous exercise, can help your brain develop and function at higher levels? People of all ages (even little kids and grandparents) can improve their brain function through exercise! Studies show that kids who are more fit tend to do better on standardized tests (like the SOLs) and in academics in general. So what are you waiting for? Let's learn some great stuff in P.E. that can help you be a better student and a happy, healthy kid! The physical education program at Ritchie is primarily focused on developing skills (locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative) and movement concepts and principles. Building a solid foundation of skills, movements, and knowledge at a young age prepares kids to be able to participate and become proficient in more physical activities of their choosing as they get older. Social skills are also developed through the dynamic setting in P.E. Sportsmanship is key and is expected of every student. |
