2nd block: Planning/Assistance with elective classes

3rd block: Social Studies/Math

4th block: Language Arts

Welcome to a brand new school year!  It hardly seems possible that summer is gone and we are gearing up for a great  2012-2013 school year. My 5 students and I are welcoming new 9th graders and a transfer student, which means that we will have a great class of learners this year.

The students in my class spend block 1 and block 2 in elective classes. After lunch

we study academics. This year we will be studying all 50 states throughout the year in a unit called "Passport to America." Each week a different state will be introduced. For fun, we will study the states in alphabetical order. Can you guess the first state we will visit in our tour?

In Language Arts we will study the novel "Anne of Green Gables." This is a fun story about a girl living in Canada in the early 1900's. While it sounds like a girl story, the guys in our class will be surprised-there are some interesting guys in the story. Along the way we will study about Canada and the lifestyles of the time period.

Other academic studies will include Math, Science, Reading and Writing.

A special addition to our curriculum ths year is "Today we are celebrating____"

Every day I will share something fun, out of the box, or weird  about the day, such as Barbie's birthday, the birthday of the rotary phone and touch tone phone,

and, well, you will just have to stay tuned for all the special days....
