  • Semper K9 Assistance Dogs Benefit from WMS Generosity

    The Warrenton Middle School physical education department recently held a fundraiser for Semper K9 Assistance Dogs, kicking off the campaign in the fall with a visit from the founder and executive director, Christopher Baity. He spoke with WMS students about what the organization does and how the assistance dogs help wounded warriors. PE teacher Denise Smith-Haynes spearheaded the fundraiser with a silent basket and silk tie auction (ties painted by the school’s National Junior Art Honor Society), a three-hour Zumbathon on April 5, hat day, and donations from students and staff.

  • Junior Division Regional Science & Engineering Fair Coming on April 29

    The Fourth Annual Regional Science & Engineering Fair, junior division (6th-8th grades), will be held Saturday, April 29, in the Fauquier High School cafeteria, featuring more than 80 middle school presenters from public and private schools in Fauquier County. Judging, which is closed to the public, will occur between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The public is invited to visit the fair from 1:30-2:30 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony which will feature a brief keynote address by Dr. David Jeck, division superintendent of Fauquier County Public Schools.
