  • David Jeck Named Region IV Superintendent of the Year

    The Region IV Virginia Association of School Superintendents (VASS) has named Dr. David Jeck, su-perintendent of Fauquier County Public Schools, as the 2018 Superintendent of the Year for Region IV. Dr. Peter Noonan, superintendent of the City of Fairfax Schools and chairman of Region IV VASS, made the announcement on March 22. “As the regional superintendent’s group, we are so proud of the work Dr. Jeck does, and he serves as an outstanding representative of our team,” Noonan said.

  • 8th Annual 24 Game Tournament Winners Announced

    Anyone who ever wondered how proficient Fauquier County Public Schools students are at math facts should have been at Fauquier High School on Saturday, Feb. 25. Brains were churning, cards were flying, and players and high school proctors were busily calculating four numbers to make an equation that would result in an answer of 24.

  • Recycling Art Contest Winners Announced

    More than 1,000 students from ten Fauquier County Public Schools participated in the Fauquier County Recycling Committee’s art contest aimed at promoting awareness and educating students and the community about recycling. At each school a school selection committee chose the top artwork at each grade level to submit for division-wide judging. Then representatives from the Fauquier County Recycling Committee along with School Board Office staff selected the following contest winners, listed in order of first and second places and honorable mentions for each grade level.

  • Disability and Transition Fair April 19

    A Disability and Transition Fair will be held at Fauquier High School on Wednesday, April 19, from 3:30-7 p.m., hosted by the Fauquier County Public Schools Parent Resource Center and the Office of Special Education. The fair will feature workshops on Medicaid waivers, IEPs, preparing for college, post-grad options, and special needs trusts. Local agencies and support organizations will be on hand with informational resources.

  • Evening Activities Canceled

    All Fauquier County Public Schools evening activities on Monday, March 13, are canceled due to the winter storm warning; all activities scheduled in FCPS facilities must be completed by 6:30 p.m. The school board meeting scheduled for tonight, including the reception and recognition of student and staff first-term achievements, is postponed until Monday, March 20, at Liberty High School: reception at 6 p.m., recognitions at 6:30 p.m. and regular meeting at 7 p.m.

  • All County Arts Festival Slated for March 24 and 25

    Fauquier County Public Schools art teachers are pleased to announce the exhibit of student artwork throughout the Warrenton community from March 1-30. March is Youth Art Month (YAM), an annual observance recognized throughout all 50 states to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality art programs. This year 41 businesses (listed at the end) will participate in the Community Art Walk, displaying 90 pieces of student work. Some of the pieces will be in the businesses’ windows and some will be inside.

  • Kindergarten Registration Scheduled

    Kindergarten registration for children attending Fauquier County Public Schools will be held April 3-7, 2017. Children who are 5 years of age on or before September 30, 2017, are eligible for kindergarten. Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on any of the five days – April 3, 4 5, 6 or 7 – a parent should visit the school the child will attend. Some schools may require your child’s presence at the time of registration; please check with your school. If needed, parents are encouraged to use the attendance zone locator service on the school division’s website at www.fcps1.org.

  • 'Resilience' Film to be Shown Followed by Community Discussion

    The movie “Resilience” will be shown on Wednesday, March 29, at 6 p.m. in the Fauquier High School auditorium at an event co-hosted by Fauquier County Public Schools and the Greater Piedmont Trauma Informed Community Network. The 75-minute movie will be followed by a 30-minute community discussion on “What’s Next: Opportunities to Engage in Building Resilience in Our Community.”

  • Applications Available for Preschool Program for At-Risk Four-Year-Olds

    Applications for a free preschool program for at-risk four-year-olds who reside in Fauquier County are now available at these locations: all FCPS elementary schools, Central Complex Building B, Head Start/Bright Stars administrative office and Fauquier County Department of Social Services. Eligibility for the program, which is known as the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI), is based on family income and child and family risk factors.
