Fauquier FRESH was recently awarded funding through the Virginia Department of Education’s (VDOE) ‘Active Learning Grant.’ Focusing on children in pre-K to second grade, grant funding will support FRESH’s multi-year approach to integrating more movement in classrooms across Fauquier County. Grant programming will begin by piloting calming and refocusing strategies.
Fauquier Reaches for Excellence in School Health (FRESH) and Fauquier Public Library have partnered to bring StoryWalks® to the community. A StoryWalk® is a free outdoor activity that empowers families to move and read at the same time! Each page of a children’s book is placed on story boards along a walking path in the community. To read the book from beginning to end, families follow the path, visiting each signpost along the way.
Fauquier Reaches for Excellence in School Health (FRESH) is a Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS) program with a mission to maximize opportunities for students to engage in active learning, active living, and nutritional education. During the week of October 3rd, FRESH partnered with the FCPS School Nutrition Program to host ‘Farm to School Week,’ where children across the county had an opportunity to experience local meat and produce as part of their school meal.
