Parents, students, school employees and community members are invited to nominate a teacher for the 2018 Fauquier County Public Schools Teacher of the Year Award, presented in recognition of teachers who exemplify excellence in their profession. Recipient of the FCPS award will be nominated for The Washington Post Teacher of the Year Award, presented to one teacher from the DC/Maryland/Virginia region.
On Oct. 12 just before noon the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an adult male lying in a ditch with a weapon in the 6100 block of Willow Place in Bealeton. Cedar Lee Middle School was notified of the incident as a precaution to implement safety procedures since this incident occurred on Marsh Rd across from the school campus. Deputies located this individual, and he was taken into custody and the weapon secured without incident. This matter is a MENTAL HEALTH issue and the individual is being evaluated. The incident was isolated to the Willow Place location, and there was no immediate threat to the Cedar Lee Middle School campus. The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office has not issued any public information or statements at this time.
