    Application Process Open for Mountain Vista Governor's School

    Mountain Vista Governor’s School (MVGS) is a regional program for academically talented and highly motivated 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. Science, mathematics, humanities, and research courses are uniquely integrated to provide a college-level, project-based learning environment.

    McDaniel Named Interim Principal at Greenville Elementary School

    Bruce McDaniel will become the interim principal at Greenville Elementary School beginning January 3, 2023, and lasting throughout the second semester of the 2022-2023 school year. The veteran administrator will take over for Principal Tim Gardner, who will fill an existing vacant position within FCPS.

    Campbell Sworn In as Fauquier County School Board Member

    Marshall C. “Clay” Campbell took an oath on November 16, 2022, to serve as the Scott District representative on the Fauquier County School Board. Campbell won the special election held on November 8, 2022, and assumed the seat previously held by Vincent Gallo. Gallo served as interim Scott District representative after being appointed by the Fauquier County School Board to fill the seat vacated on December 15, 2021, by Suzanne Sloane.

    Applications Available for Summer Residential Governor’s Schools

    Applications for 2023 Summer Residential Governor’s School are now available. These worthwhile programs provide enrichment in the areas of agriculture, humanities, mathematics, science and technology, and the arts (dance, theatre, instrumental and vocal music and visual arts). Students, who should be nominated by a teacher, must be in 10th or 11th grade and enrolled during the 2022-2023 school year.

    FCPS Achieves Graduation Rate of 94.8%

    Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS) recorded an on-time graduation rate of 94.8% in 2022, according to data released by the Virginia Department of Education. FCPS continued to achieve high graduation rates in all subgroup categories while maintaining a low dropout rate of 2.7%, compared to the state average of 5.2%.
