FCPS 1 Elementary English Language Arts
The goal of literacy instruction in Fauquier County Public Schools is to ensure that all children have the necessary skills to become successful readers, writers, speakers, and listeners with the critical thinking skills that are required to be successful as they progress and transition through the stages of their lives.
Effective K-5 Reading Instruction must include explicit, systematic, core classroom instruction, including the Five Pillars of Literacy Instruction identified in 2000 by the National Reading Panel:
- Phonemic Awareness
How are we addressing the Five Pillars in Fauquier County Public Schools?
