The Doctor is in!
  • April 15, 2020

Good afternoon Southeastern Students and Families,

Southeastern teachers and staff will be reaching out to students this week by phone or email - just to "check in" and reestablish the school-to-student connection.  We've missed you and want to hear how things are going in your world!  This includes all new students who would have joined us at the start of the last marking period.  We want to connect with you, too!

In true Southeastern style, teachers have designed dozens of mini – activities, or “PBL-light” activities for your child to complete over the next six (6) weeks. These activities can be found at the following link:

    https://sites.google.com/fcps1schools.net/sasproject/home

This Google site will require all students to login using their FCPS Google Drive (Gmail) information.

These activities are hands-on and require minimal materials and supplies. Students will upload pictures, documents, videos, etc. using the required Google form (available on the Google site). We recommend that students complete a minimum of one (1) activity per class, per week. Of course, any student interested in going “above and beyond” has permission to do so!

We want these last few weeks of our academic year to go as smoothly as possible for everyone.  So please encourage your child to seek teacher assistance and participate in virtual office hours if they are struggling with any aspect of the PBL Mini-Projects.  If you, as parents & guardians have questions, please contact us in the front office.  We are all here to help!

    Stay healthy & stay safe,

    Dear Southeastern Students and Families,

Thank you for your patience these past few weeks as we worked diligently to prepare engaging and relevant learning activities that complement the FCPS Continuity of Learning plan.

So let's start by celebrating ALL Southeastern Seniors - as of March 13th you are officially finished!   Woo Hoo!!!  I will send out the official letter later next week.  As soon as restrictions are lifted, we will have a graduation celebration - it might not be until summer - but it will happen! Congratulations!!

As for students in grades 6-11, teachers have created some amazing learning opportunities just for you. Here at Southeastern, we believe our students learn best when engaged in real-world, hands-on, project-based learning activities. Southeastern teachers are experts at transforming the curriculum and their classrooms into vibrant PBL project centers. While we cannot completely recreate these PBL projects in your homes, the teachers have designed dozens of mini – activities, or “PBL-light” activities for your child to complete over the next six (6) weeks.

Please review the attached (2) documents, SAS Learning Plan & Virtual Office Hours which provide the information, details, and answers you are seeking.

Our main priority continues to be the health, welfare, and safety of our students, their families, our staff, and our community. We trust you will find these learning opportunities to be as simple as possible as to reduce unnecessary stress and burden for our students and your families during this time.

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

    Stay healthy and safe,

    M. Neibauer, Principal
