School Activity Fund Regulations

School Activity Funds play a vital role in supporting the student experience—from extracurricular events and clubs to athletics and other school-sponsored activities. To ensure responsible stewardship of these funds, Fauquier County Public Schools follows clear policies and procedures designed to promote transparency, accountability, and alignment with state guidelines.

The purpose of the School Activity Fund Regulations is to provide a framework that ensures funds are managed efficiently and effectively, used in accordance with the Superintendent’s guidance, and safeguarded against fraud, waste, and abuse. These funds are intended to support student activities within the same school year they are collected—not to be held as long-term savings.

The regulations align with the Virginia Department of Education and the Virginia Administrative Code, reflecting the standards set forth by the Virginia Board of Education for all school activity funds, including those derived from entertainment events, athletics, clubs, and more.
