Strategic Plan
At Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS1), we are committed to shaping a brighter future for our students. Our mission is to cultivate safe and engaging learning environments where all students can thrive.
Our Strategic Plan, approved by the School Board on January 13, 2025, outlines our key priorities and the actions we are taking to support student success. This plan is built on three key focus areas: Safety, Engagement, and Learning.
Key Focus Areas
Safety
Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, staff and school community by addressing their physical, emotional and health needs.
- Cultivate a positive, caring, respectful and supportive culture across the division.
- Implement school-level practices to support effective behavioral health management.
- Maintain safe, secure and clean environments.
- Implement strategies that enhance learning, support focus and minimize distractions.
Engagement
Actively engaging families, staff, students and community partners to foster a thriving and connected school system.
- Implement culturally responsive family engagement to promote communication that values parent, student and community involvement.
- Promote the use of educational technology as a tool for teaching and learning.
- Implement strategic recruitment practices to increase workforce diversity and attract high-quality educators.
- Align financial and strategic outcomes by ensuring all district resources support instruction and student services.
- Leverage communication platforms to keep families and the community informed.
- Implement strategies to increase student access to learning.
Learning
Creating a supportive environment that promotes continuous learning and growth for all students.
- Increase student achievement in literacy and mathematics.
- Maintain a high graduation rate for all students.
- Provide access to a variety of educational and extracurricular opportunities.
- Increase completion rates for Virginia College and Career Readiness Initiative programs and career and technical education programs.
- Expand professional learning for all staff to support mental health, physical and emotional well-being, best business practices, academic success and postsecondary outcomes.
