During the June 10, School Board Meeting, Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS) announced the appointment of Angela Castaldy as the new principal of Marshall Middle School. Ms. Castaldy brings over 17 years of experience in education, a dedication to student achievement, and a commitment to creating a supportive learning environment. Ms. Castaldy will officially assume this role on July 1, 2024.
Ms. Castaldy has a diverse career background, with experience spanning education, counseling, and the telecommunications sector. Prior to her teaching career, she served as a youth counselor in private residential care and school facilities for children and adolescents, including roles at the Loudoun County Youth Shelter, the Juvenile Detention Center, and the Young Adults Project. She also gained valuable experience working as a contract negotiator for a telecommunications startup company in New York City.
In 2007, Ms. Castaldy returned to her passion for education, starting her teaching career at Fauquier High School as a special education teacher. Since then, she has held several positions within FCPS, including special education teacher and department head at Taylor Middle School, special education resource specialist at Kettle Run High School, and most recently, assistant principal at Marshall Middle School.
Ms. Castaldy holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from George Mason University, a special education endorsement from Old Dominion University, and a master’s degree in administration and supervision from Averett University. Additionally, she has received extensive training in dyslexia and autism and is a certified Handle with Care trainer.
In her free time, Ms. Castaldy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, attending concerts, reading, and researching her ancestry. She has been married to her husband Chris for 25 years, and together they have two children, Olivia and Tanner.
