Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS1) is proud to announce that all schools in the division are fully accredited, meeting Virginia’s standards for student learning, safety and school operations. This accomplishment reflects the dedication and hard work of students, teachers, staff and families across the county.

This announcement accompanies the Virginia Department of Education’s newly implemented School Performance and Support Framework, designed to give families a clearer and more complete understanding of how schools are performing. The framework evaluates schools across four key areas:

  • Mastery: Academic achievement in reading, math and science
  • Growth: Student progress over time
  • Readiness: Preparation for future learning, including attendance and participation in advanced coursework
  • Graduation: On-time completion of high school requirements

Schools receive a Performance Category based on these measures:

  • Distinguished: Exceeding expectations
  • On Track: Meeting expectations
  • Off Track: Below expectations and receiving additional state support
  • Needs Intensive Support: Significantly below expectations and receiving the strongest state support

In addition to state performance categories, schools may also receive federal designations:

  • Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI): Lowest-performing Title I schools; high schools with graduation rates below 67%; or Title I schools that have not exited TSI status after three years
  • Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI): Schools with one or more underperforming student groups
  • Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI): Schools previously identified that have not met interim progress measures

Schools also receive an accreditation designation of Fully Accredited, Conditionally Accredited or Accreditation Denied under Virginia’s Standards of Accreditation.

“Achieving full accreditation across all schools is a significant milestone for our division,” said Dr. Major Warner, Superintendent of Fauquier County Public Schools. “We are proud of this accomplishment, and we remain committed to supporting every school, especially those identified for additional assistance, to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed.”
