Music Education Excellence

For the second consecutive year, Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS1) has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) Award from the National Association for Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation, recognizing sustained excellence and a deep, division-wide commitment to music education.

This national distinction reflects the ongoing work of FCPS1 music educators, students, and families who support high-quality music instruction and ensure students have meaningful opportunities to engage in music across all grade levels.

“This distinguished honor reflects the exceptional opportunities provided to our students and the dedication of our music educators,” said Tiffany Richtarski, instructional supervisor of fine arts and advanced programs. “Earning this recognition requires consistent effort, collaboration, and a shared commitment to excellence. Our educators continue to elevate the learning experience and foster a lasting appreciation for the arts.”

The BCME designation is awarded annually to school districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing equitable access to music education for all students. The recognition is based on a comprehensive evaluation of program quality, including instructional time, funding, student participation, facilities, and community support.

Recipients of the 2026 BCME Awards were selected through a rigorous application and review process that examines key indicators of music education access and excellence. All submissions were independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts.

FCPS1 extends its appreciation to its music educators, students, and families whose continued dedication and hard work make this recognition possible. The division remains committed to maintaining strong, high-quality music programs that enrich the educational experience for all students.
