Fauquier County Public Schools is celebrating a milestone: 95.3% of seniors graduated on time during the 2024–25 school year. The district also recorded a dropout rate of 2.23%, reflecting continued success in keeping students on track.

While statewide figures for this year are not yet available, the Virginia average for 2023–24 was 92.8% for on-time graduation and 4.5% for dropouts, showing that FCPS1 students are performing above state averages.

Strong results across student groups
FCPS1’s commitment to supporting all students is evident in the success of a range of student groups:

  • Students with disabilities: 96.52% graduation rate
  • Economically disadvantaged students: 93.31%
  • Black students: 93.75%
  • Hispanic students: 90.83%
  • English learners: 82.76%

“These numbers represent an achievement for every student who crossed the stage this May,” said Dr. Major Warner, superintendent of Fauquier County Public Schools. “They reflect years of effort and dedication from students, families and educators, and the support that makes these milestones possible.”

How graduation rates are calculated
The Virginia Department of Education calculates on-time graduation rates using four years of student-level data. The process accounts for student mobility, enrollment changes, and promotion or retention decisions, offering a comprehensive view of student success.

Graduation is more than a statistic. It is the result of hard work, persistence and community support—and a starting point for the next chapter in students’ lives.
