96% Graduation Rate

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has released data for the 2023-24 school year, showing Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS1) achieved a 96.02% on-time graduation rate and a dropout rate of 1.51%. In comparison, the Virginia average graduation rate is 92.8%, with a dropout rate of 4.5%.

English learners in FCPS1 saw significant improvement, with an on-time graduation rate of 87.5%, a 7.5% increase from the prior year. Several other student subgroups posted notable achievements: Hispanic students graduated at a rate of 94.3%, and students of multiple races achieved a 98.1% graduation rate. Asian and military-connected students, although smaller subgroups, achieved a 100% on-time graduation rate. These results reflect the division’s commitment to improving academic outcomes for all students.

The Virginia on-time graduation rate is calculated based on four years of student-level data, accounting for factors such as student mobility, enrollment changes, and promotion or retention decisions. FCPS1 Superintendent Dr. Major Warner emphasized that these outcomes reflect the division’s focus on student learning, both in school and at home.

“Our students' success is a reflection of the hard work and collaboration between students, families, and educators,” said Dr. Warner. “Exceeding the state average and achieving such high graduation rates is a clear indication of the strength of our school community.”
