Ladona Gorham Selected as Interim Director for Mountain Vista Governor’s School

During the July 18 Governing Board Meeting, Mountain Vista Governor’s School (MVGS) selected Ladona Gorham as the Interim Director for the 2024-2025 school year. Gorham brings 34 years of experience in public education, a dedication to improving school climate and culture, and a commitment to student success. Gorham will officially assume this role on August 1, 2024.

Throughout her career, Gorham has held various roles in education, including 15 years as a teacher in Stafford County Public Schools, a curriculum specialist in Culpeper County Public Schools, and most recently an instructional supervisor for Fauquier County Public Schools, overseeing advanced and fine arts programs. Additionally, Gorham has served as the Summer Regional Governor’s School Director with the Virginia Department of Education for the regional SummerQuest! program for gifted students for the past 18 years. 

Gorham has been a dedicated member of the MVGS Academic Advisory Board since its inception in 2006. She expressed her excitement about her new role, stating, “To be able to serve MVGS in an increased capacity has been a career goal for 18 years. The faculty, staff, students, parents, and school system partners are top-notch, and I am thrilled to call Mountain Vista Governor’s School my new home. I am honored to be entrusted with this opportunity.”

Gorham holds a Post Master’s Certificate in Administration and Supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Master’s in Educational Psychology with a specialty in Gifted Education from the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from West Virginia University. She is also certified in administration, elementary education, middle education, and gifted education.

In her free time, Gorham enjoys archery and genealogy, and spending time with her husband of 30 years, Jeff, and their horses, Max and Blue.
