Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS1) proudly announces that two students from Kettle Run High School, Jack Wargo and Miriel Weber, have earned the distinguished title of National Merit Scholar Semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.
This honor places Jack and Miriel among approximately 16,000 academically talented high school seniors nationwide. As Semifinalists, they are eligible to compete for about 6,870 National Merit Scholarships, totaling nearly $26 million, which will be awarded in the spring. To continue in the competition, Semifinalists must fulfill several additional requirements, including submitting a scholarship application and maintaining an exemplary academic record.
"We commend Jack and Miriel for their dedication and academic achievements," said Dr. Meaghan Brill, Deputy Superintendent of Fauquier County Public Schools. "We wish them continued success as they advance in this important program."
Established in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes and honors students for their outstanding academic accomplishments and contributions to their communities. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of excellence and integrity. Since its founding, NMSC has recognized over 3.5 million students and awarded approximately 470,000 scholarships worth over $1.8 billion.
