Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS) is announcing that Karyn Spahr and Austin Hundley have been appointed as the permanent Principal and Assistant Principal of Taylor Middle School, respectively. Both leaders have been serving in these roles on an interim basis and have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the school community.
Karyn Spahr – Principal of Taylor Middle School
Karyn Spahr, an educator with over 25 years of experience, has been named the permanent Principal of Taylor Middle School. Spahr has served as Assistant Principal at Pierce Elementary, Warrenton Middle School, and Taylor Middle School before stepping into the interim principal role.
Before joining FCPS, Spahr worked in Stafford County Public Schools, Orange County Public Schools, and taught special education in Kaneohe, Hawaii. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education and psychology from Lake Forest College, a master’s degree in education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and an administration endorsement from Virginia Commonwealth University.
In her free time, Spahr enjoys outdoor activities such as biking and kayaking, as well as needlepoint. She treasures time with her husband, Dean, granddaughter, Milly, and is eager to continue building a thriving academic environment at Taylor Middle School.
Austin Hundley – Assistant Principal of Taylor Middle School
Austin Hundley has been named the permanent Assistant Principal of Taylor Middle School. With 15 years of experience in education, Hundley began his career teaching at Greenville Elementary School. He later taught Academic Enhancement and English at Kettle Run High School, where he also served as a basketball coach for nine years.
Hundley transitioned to Prince William County Public Schools, working at Parkside Middle School as a multi-tiered support specialist and restorative practices coordinator before returning to FCPS last year. He holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Old Dominion University and a master’s degree in administration and supervision from the University of Virginia.
As Assistant Principal, Hundley is committed to fostering academic and extracurricular excellence, supporting students, staff, and the broader Taylor Middle School community. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Brittany, and their two sons who attend FCPS.
