Joe Golimowski has been named the 2026 FCPS1 Teacher of the Year

Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS1) proudly announces that Joe Golimowski, an 11th grade Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment English teacher at Kettle Run High School, has been named the 2026 FCPS1 Teacher of the Year.

With 17 years of experience in FCPS1, Golimowski is known for his dedication to student success, academic excellence and strong relationships with students and colleagues.

“Mr. Golimowski reflects the dedication and commitment we see across Fauquier County Public Schools and we are grateful that he has remained with us,” said Superintendent Dr. Major Warner. “In his classroom, students feel valued, challenged and inspired to grow. He not only teaches English but helps students become confident thinkers and writers. We are grateful for the impact he has on his students and school community.”

Golimowski joined Kettle Run High School when it opened in 2008 and now serves as English Department Chair. He teaches 11th Grade AP and Dual Enrollment English, providing students with access to rigorous, college-level coursework.

He also serves as the division’s Lead Advanced Placement teacher, mentoring colleagues and supporting high-quality instruction across schools. In addition, he coaches the Academic Team and sponsors the National English Honor Society.

To expand student support, Golimowski founded the Kettle Run Writing Center, a student-led program that promotes peer collaboration and strengthens writing across disciplines. He also supports the Reading Buddies program in partnership with Greenville Elementary School, helping foster a love of literacy in younger students.

Colleagues describe Golimowski as a collaborative leader who empowers others, while students point to his humor, authenticity and consistent encouragement as reasons they feel confident taking academic risks.

One student shared, “He makes you feel appreciated and capable. His class is the perfect balance of structure and fun. One you never forget.”

Another noted, “Mr. Golimowski doesn’t just teach writing—he teaches you to believe in your voice.”

His work reflects FCPS1 core values, including inspiring learning, encouraging individual growth and leading by example. His impact extends beyond the classroom, helping shape confident, capable students prepared for future success.

As FCPS1 Teacher of the Year, Golimowski will represent the division at the regional level and serve as an ambassador for the teaching profession.
