The Fauquier Education Foundation (FEF) is bringing back its annual “Your $180: Fueling a Year of Educational Excellence” campaign for a second year, inviting community members and local businesses to support educational opportunities for students and educators across Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS1).

The campaign encourages community members to contribute $180 over the course of a year, or $15 a month. That’s about $1 a day for each school day.

When community members make small, consistent contributions, those gifts can make a meaningful difference. FEF’s goal is to raise at least $75,000 through this year’s campaign.

Gifts of any amount are welcome and appreciated. Campaign funds support the Foundation’s greatest operational needs and most urgent strategic priorities across FCPS1, allowing FEF to respond to the evolving needs of students and educators.

“We believe that investing in education strengthens our entire Fauquier community,” said FCPS1 Superintendent Dr. Major Warner. “This campaign makes it easy for everyone to contribute. Just $1 a day during the school year makes a tangible difference for our students and provides crucial, flexible support for our dedicated educators.”

Supporting educators

One way FEF invests in FCPS1 is through professional development grants, which give educators opportunities to learn new strategies, gain expertise and bring fresh ideas back to their schools and classrooms.

Brumfield Elementary art teacher Jess Beach recently received a professional development grant that helped make it possible for her and three colleagues to attend a conference at The Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta.

“What a great honor it was to receive this grant!” Beach said. “Four of us from Brumfield had the opportunity to attend a conference at The Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, where we learned innovative strategies for building a stronger school community, increasing student engagement, and creating a positive school culture. We came back to our school energized and excited to put some of these great ideas into action!”

Professional development grants are one example of how community support through FEF can create opportunities for educators and, ultimately, benefit students.

Investing in the Fauquier community

For FEF Executive Director Nancy Griffin-Bonnaire, bringing back the annual campaign is about responding to the needs of FCPS1 while strengthening the connection between schools and the community.

“Bringing back our annual campaign for a second year allows us to adapt to the school system’s evolving needs,” Griffin-Bonnaire said. “As a parent of four children who attended Fauquier County Public Schools, I know firsthand that ongoing community support is critical to maintaining high-quality public education.”

Through the “Your $180” campaign, FEF is inviting the Fauquier community to make an investment in the students and educators who are part of the community every day.
