Liberty High School junior Kylie Fazenbaker has been honored with the esteemed Rising Star Award from the National Art Honor Society (NAHS), a prestigious distinction awarded to only 50 exceptional and active members nationwide each year. This recognition highlights Kylie's outstanding dedication to the field of art education and her ongoing commitment to becoming a future art educator.
The Rising Star Award is part of the Rising Stars Secondary Recognition Program, designed to promote art education as a career and recognize students excelling in their passion for the arts.
“I’m so honored to receive this award. I’ve dreamt of becoming a teacher since the 7th grade. This award will help me financially on my journey to becoming an art teacher!” Kylie shared.
Heather Deeney, fine art teacher at Liberty High School, praised Kylie for her exemplary qualities, stating, “Kylie is a remarkable individual who has consistently demonstrated high qualities of courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship, and service.”
Kylie’s hard work, passion for the arts, and commitment to her community have made her a standout student and role model. This award not only honors her current achievements but also sets the stage for her future success in art education.
Karla Kolb, art teacher at Auburn Middle School, reflected on Kylie’s participation as an assistant at art camp, saying, “She was very helpful, always anticipating needs and offering a positive attitude. Kylie has a great sense of humor, and the students adored her.”
As part of the honor, Kylie will be recognized at the National Art Educators Association (NAEA) National Convention in Kentucky and will receive a four-year complimentary NAEA student membership, along with a one-year professional membership.
The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is a nationwide organization that recognizes high school students for their exceptional ability, passion, and involvement in the arts. NAHS aims to foster an appreciation for art education and support young artists in their pursuit of higher education and careers in the arts.
