Join Mountain Vista Governor's School. Applications Open.

Mountain Vista Governor's School (MVGS) has announced the opening of its application process for the 2025-2026 school year, offering exceptional educational opportunities for academically talented and highly motivated students entering grades 10-12.

The regional program features a unique, integrated curriculum that combines science, mathematics, humanities, and research courses in a college-level, project-based learning environment.

Applications for the upcoming academic year are due March 3, 2025. Current FCPS freshmen can access applications in both English and Spanish versions. While the program primarily targets incoming sophomores, current sophomores and juniors may also apply, with acceptance based on space availability. Physical copies of applications are available in each high school's counseling office.

MVGS will host a virtual information session for prospective students and parents on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM via Google Meet. The comprehensive session will cover essential topics including the application process, MVGS courses and teachers, dual enrollment opportunities through Laurel Ridge Community College, and what students can expect in a typical day at MVGS. Anyone interested in learning more about the program is encouraged to attend. The session will be recorded and made available on the MVGS website for those unable to attend live.

For more information about the application process, interested families can contact Mrs. Tiffany Richtarski at tiffany.richtarski@fcps1.org or (540) 422-7012. Additional details about the program can be found on the MVGS website at www.mvgshome.org.
