Bus Rules

Conduct on School Buses and School Vehicles

  1. Be at your bus stop 5 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive.
  2. Stand a safe distance away from the road while waiting.
  3. Stay seated at all times while the bus is moving.
  4. If you damage seats or equipment, you will have to pay for it.
  5. Help keep the bus clean by not littering.
  6. No bad language, yelling, or loud talking.
  7. No fighting at the bus stop or on the bus.
  8. Do not throw anything out the window or put your head, hands, or arms outside.
  9. When getting off the bus, wait until it comes to a full stop, then stand up.
  10. If you need to cross the road, walk 10–15 feet in front of the bus and wait for the driver to give you the "thumbs up" to tell you it is safe to cross.
  11. You may bring large items (like instruments or projects) only if you can hold them on your lap.
    • Items cannot block the aisle, doors, or take up another student’s seat.
  12. The bus driver or principal may assign you a seat.
  13. While on the bus, follow the driver’s instructions just like you would follow a teacher in class.
  14. To ride a different bus, you must have written permission from a parent/guardian and approval from the school.
  15. If you break these rules, it will be reported to the school administrator.
  16. If you miss the bus, do not chase it. Your parent or guardian should not follow it to another stop.
  17. If you check the mail at your stop, wait until the bus leaves and traffic is clear before going to the mailbox.
