Superintendent's Bio
Dr. Major Warner is in his 30th year in public education and his second year as superintendent. He spent 22 years as an instructional leader in both school buildings and central office roles. He began his career as a school counselor in Loudoun County Public Schools, where he was later promoted to assistant principal. After his time in Loudoun, he served as an assistant principal at Battlefield High School in Prince William County Public Schools before returning to Fauquier County Public Schools as the principal of Kettle Run High School. Dr. Warner successfully led Kettle Run High School for 10 years before being appointed deputy superintendent of Fauquier County Public Schools.
While serving as deputy superintendent and chief academic officer, Dr. Warner helped increase graduation rates, enhance programmatic opportunities for students, and served as a mentor for principals and staff.
A graduate of Fauquier High School, Dr. Warner earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and business from Emory & Henry College, with a minor in geography. He later earned a master’s degree in educational psychology–school counseling from Tennessee Tech University. After completing coursework at the University of Virginia, Dr. Warner earned a postgraduate licensure in administration and supervision. More recently, he earned a Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition to his degrees, Dr. Warner holds certifications in marketing education, middle school counseling, secondary counseling, and division superintendent.
Throughout his career, Dr. Warner has received numerous awards, including the Washington Post Distinguished Leadership Award, Principal of the Year, and the Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Award.
Dr. Warner resides in Fauquier County with his wife of 25 years, Lisa Warner, who recently retired after 30 years in public education. Their son, Tré Warner, is a Kettle Run High School graduate and a recent graduate of Coastal Carolina University, where he majored in marine conservation.
In his spare time, Dr. Warner enjoys serving his community, playing golf, and spending time with friends and family. He is committed to building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and the community. “It is the utmost honor to be named the superintendent of Fauquier County Public Schools, where I grew up and call home,” Dr. Warner said. “I cherish this community and will work tirelessly to make it a better place for all.”
