Student/Parent Quick Facts
2023-2024
Students may be dropped off at 8:00 a.m. (NO EARLIER)
- The academic day begins at 8:35 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m.
- If you are bringing your child to school after 8:35 a.m. or picking them up early, you MUST park and come into the office.
- Afternoon pickup will be in the designated “Student Drop-Off” area on the left side of the school. You can activate your family “carpool” tag at Meet the Teacher (in August) or in the office at any time.
- If you have a change of plans for afternoon pick up please call the school no later than 2:00 p.m. and make sure you talk to a person (not a message machine).
- All visitors must come to the office to check in.
- All doors to the school are locked at all times. You must use the “call” button and speak to office personnel in order to enter the school.
- Parent/Guardian photo ID must be scanned for volunteering, having lunch, meetings, being a chaperone on school trip, etc.
- Half-day dismissal time is 12:30 p.m. Keep this in mind so you can plan for childcare and/or pick-up.
- Tardiness and Early Dismissals are counted the same way on the report card.
- Call the office when there is any change to your telephone numbers, mailing information and emergency contact information.
- Please do NOT send any medication to school with your child. All medication must be in the original package and be brought to school by an adult with the required medication forms.
- Every child will have a “take home folder” to use to transport information back and forth to and from school. Most importantly, each teacher will invite you to use a program called, “Class DoJo” – a communication tool you can use on your phone. This is our main way of communicating with parents.
- Every child is eligible for free breakfast AND lunch this year at Thompson only. Additional menu items will need to be purchased. If you have a child that attends the middle or high school, you may consider filling out a meal assistance form if needed.
- ANY money sent to school should be in an envelope with your child’s name and purpose. We encourage enrollment in “SchoolCash Online”. Please contact the officer for further info.
- If you have a Facebook account, please “Like Us” so that you can get the latest CTE information, although we use Class DoJo to send out any information.
- School phone number is 540-422-7690. Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After that time, you may leave a message or call a direct line to a staff member.
