• Health and Physical Education

  • The mission of our physical education program is to help students learn the skills necessary for performing a variety of physical activities and understand the benefits of achieving and maintaining a physically active lifestyle and good health for a lifetime.

Fauquier County endeavors to meet the physical and health needs of all students. Students in grades K through 5th grade receive regular physical education instruction - including recess and class time. Students in grades 6-8 participate in health and physical education each year, and high school students are required to complete two years of health and physical education courses to fulfill their graduation requirements.

Family Life Education lessons are delivered by Heath & PE teachers in grades 6-10 (students may be opted out) and classroom instruction for Driver Education takes place during 10th Grade Health & PE classes (behind-the-wheel instruction is not offered by Fauquier County Public Schools).

Please visit VDOEs website for more about the Virginia Standards of Learning for Physical Education, Health, and Driver Education.
