• This Week

This week our Pandas are all about giving. For our Penny drive to find the cure for breast cancer our Pandas raised over $150 for breast cancer research!!! Our first Pink Out Friday was a huge success.

This week also marks the end of the 1st Quarter. It is hard to believe that we are already through nine (9) weeks of school. Our Pandas are growing and learning so much. We are so proud of them. Report cards will go home on Friday, October 15th. Students that participated in the NWEA MAP Growth assessments who scored below the 40th percentile will also get a letter explaining the assessment and how we are going to work with them here at school to help boost up their reading and math. We are excited about all of the growth opportunities for our pandas.

We would also like to welcome Mr. Hoopingarner who is our new Special Education teacher. He will be working with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. He comes to us with teaching experience from Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. He also served as a Department of Defense contractor in Afghanistan.

We would also like to officially welcome Mr. Keahon as our new School Security Officer. He comes to us with over 20 years of experience as a Washington D.C. Metro Police Officer who also served with the K-9 Units.

    Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is breast cancer awareness month and we are encouraging all of our Pandas to wear pink clothing every Friday starting on Friday, October 8th in order to raise awareness and to support breast cancer research.

We have a few events lined up for our Pandas:

We are having a penny drive for the cure. We are asking that students bring in a penny or pennies when they can to their homeroom teacher. On October 29th the homeroom that raised the most pennies will receive a Pink Out Surprise and all the pennies collected will go to a local breast cancer charity.

On October 22nd students can where caps or capes for the cure.
