Welcome Letter from Deborah Diaz- Arnold and Mark Rendell
Dear Grace Miller Families,
On behalf of the Grace Miller Staff and Faculty, we welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year. It is exciting to be able to put faces and names together as we begin our journey to
Empower Growth for All in a Dignity Honored Environment!
At Grace Miller ES we value:
- Developing strong relationships
- Creating multiple channels of open communication
- Building capacity for all learners: students, staff, and family to learn and grow.
In efforts to empower growth for all learners, we will have a literacy focus. We want our students to learn to love reading and believe they will with our approach to balanced literacy. Throughout the year, we will feature Guest Readers in our Facebook Storytime Series. Be sure to tune in every Tuesday night for a live feed; the stories are also recorded and can be watched at your convenience as well.
In efforts to empower growth for all learners, we will be learning to conceptualize mathematical concepts by developing a strong foundation number sense. We have adopted a new math series that we will use as a primary resource to teach problem solving and critical thinking.
We look forward to creating those multiple channels of communication as we develop trusting relationships that support student learning. We will be holding “Principal Coffees” throughout the year to inform and provide resources to parents as they support their children’s learning.
We encourage you to become involved in Grace Miller’s Parent Teacher Organization. We encourage you to reach out to the school and ask your teacher how you can support student learning.
Our expectations for student learning in a safe and secure learning environment are high. We know when we have a culture of high expectations for all, students often exceed those expectations.
We are confident that the 2019-2020 school year will be amazing, and we are so looking forward to working with you as our partners in education. Together we will work to make this year the best possible year for our students!
We are the Grace Miller Mustangs! We Are! We Can! We Do! We Must! Go Mustangs!
Warm Regards,
