Fauquier County Public Schools (FCPS) has named Mr. Prashant Shrestha its new assistant superintendent for budget and planning. Shrestha will fill the position vacated in May by Denise Sandlin. 

Dr. Major Warner, the newly-named division superintendent, announced the appointment at the Fauquier County School Board meeting on June 12.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Shrestha back to Fauquier County Public Schools,” Warner said. “He is, in my estimation, a transformational leader who has an exceptional skill set when it comes to budgeting and planning, and we are so excited for our future with his guidance and leadership.”

Shrestha was grateful to learn he had been selected for the position.

“I look forward to being of service to my hometown,” Shrestha said. “I feel blessed for this opportunity to be of service to Fauquier County because the heart of all we do here goes beyond a balance sheet.”

Shrestha returns to Fauquier from Spotsylvania County Public Schools, where he has served as the chief business officer for schools since 2021. Prior to his time in Spotsylvania, Shrestha held the title of FCPS Budget Director and Assistant Superintendent for Business and Planning from 2016 to 2020. Mr. Shrestha returns to FCPS with over twenty years of experience serving in government and public school finance.

Shrestha holds a master's in public administration from George Mason University and resides in Warrenton with his wife and two daughters.
